I've Learnt a Lesson!

Never invite your friends to the party YOU are not hosting.

Yesterday, I really pestered my friends to join me, while I was on my way to our college day event. I gave them the directions, when they finally agreed to come, but by their own means of transport.
They made it to our college somehow, 30km ride on a bike to an unknown destination. They've never been to this place, located at about a distance of 35km from the city.
I promised them a good welcome, which remained just a promise because of my stupidity to some extent and everybody at the venue is busy with their own work.
"What a terrible mistake!" are the words in my heart all the time I was with them, showing around the college. It didn't amuse them, theirs being a huge campus with lush green lawns and all. I was totally embarrassed with the mocking looks on their faces. I couldn't speak a word.
And on top of that, the event started very late; these people, who expected something like a cultural fest are bored to the core by the inaugural speeches, annual day prize distributions and all. We can blame none in this. Not the event organizers, not me, not anyone. It's just a bad day for us.
I hope, I wish, I pray that they understand that there is no mockery or anything like that in my invitation.

So, what I've learnt is.... When things are not in your hands, and when you are not sure of certain things yourself, it is better not to involve others in them!
